New Years Resolutions?
What about them? Do they work? Not unless a decision and a commitment is made they won’t. Positive affirmations can actually change us - yes they can; but most of us won’t stick with them long enough to enable them to. God made us to be speaking spirits. No other being on the planet is made like God made us humans to be. He made us to have dominion over all the other animals and creeping things. He made us to fruitful and multiply and to be blessed. We are supposed to run our bodies and our lives according to what God’s word says about us; we are not supposed to be run by what others say; by our bodies or by what our circumstances dictate to us.
Jesus said we will be justified or we will be condemned by the words of our mouths. The words that we speak are indeed powerful...so powerful that if we take a look we will realise that our lives and circumstances are a product of what we or others have spoken over us. If we renew our minds to the truth of the word of God that says our words control our lives then we won’t care what people say. It is what God says about us in our own mouths that is important. For us to be well pleasing to God we won’t necessarily be well pleasing to others.
Positive affirmations can have an effect on us ... but they won’t change our circumstances though – only the word of God is powerful enough to do that. What we say produces in our lives.
Confession: to say what God says. Affirmation: to say what we say. God will only back what He says because God is faithful to His Word in our mouths. He is faithful to produce in our lives what His Word says about us. He is faithful to His word above His Name.
When God created the earth He spoke those things that be not as though they were. It was dark but He didn’t comment on that. He said “Light be”. That is exactly what we need to do in our own lives. Speak to those things that defy the existence of God in our lives. Speak life into the things that are dying. Speak to those things that hamper us and reduce us to nothing. Speak to those mountains that get in the way of us fulfilling our potential in God. Speak His word and see the power of Gods’ word and the fulfilment of His plan come to work in your life. Don’t settle for the lies of the enemy when God says we can have so much more in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Don’t make new years’ resolutions this year. Determine to believe and act on the fact that you can have what God says you can have. Determine to believe and act on what God says you can do. Determine to believe and act on what God says you can be. And see the power of Almighty God come through for you and yours this year!
